Is it really unlimited requests and revisions?

Sure is! You're free to submit as many copy requests (and revisions) as you want. In order to give your requests our undivided attention, we work on one request at a time. As soon as your active request gets sent back to you for feedback, you can go ahead and activate a new request.

If you want revisions to an existing request, that request automatically becomes your one active request. Unless you tell us otherwise, we'll pause whatever else we're working on for you and address the feedback.

Can we hop on a call to discuss my project?

We do one-hour welcome sessions with all new subscribers. We'll meet and greet, and run you through our process for working together. That'll take about 30 minutes, then you're free to use the additional 30 minutes any way you wish.

In addition to your welcome session, your Just Copy subscription comes with one hour per month of flexible office hours. You can schedule this as either one one-hour meeting or two half-hour meetings each month. We'll send you a custom Calendly link where you'll be able to view your UX writer's availability and schedule office hours at a time that's good for your team.

Outside of welcome sessions and monthly office hours, we are an asynchronous operation. Just Copy is able to turn around a high volume of requests at affordable rates because we don't spend time in meetings.

Can you join our team meetings and Slack channels?

Just Copy is a low-meeting, no-Slack zone. This is how we're able to turn around a high volume of copy requests at affordable rates. More on this in the previous FAQ!

If you don't do meetings, what if I need to talk to you?

We ask that you respect our preference for working asynchronously. However, if you really need to talk outside of your monthly office hours, just let your dedicated UX writer know and we'll be happy to set something up.

Do you accept any kind of copy project?

We specialize in product copy, meaning the words that appear inside of apps and websites. Some companies call this UX writing, some call it content design, some still call it copywriting. Debates rage on about the right term for determining the content inside digital products, but for now, we use the most popular ones: UX writing and content design.

How do I submit requests?

When you have a request that’s ready for us to work on, just let us know. We've found that most clients prefer that we fall into their existing workflow and project-management software, which we're happy to do. We don't want to overcomplicate things or force your team to learn a new process. Just assign us a ticket, leave us a comment, tag us in, send us an email—whatever's best for you.

Regardless of where we're communicating about projects, the more information you provide about your copy requests, the quicker we'll be able to deliver work that meets your needs. Every project is different but generally, this is what a request should include:

👉 Clear ask—specifically, what do you need us to do?  

👉 Requirements—word/character counts, style guidelines, etc.

👉 Links—source material, design files, existing drafts, etc.

How fast will you turn around my copy request?

Time estimates for product copy are tough because there are so many variables. Depending on the scope of work, and the number of reviews and stakeholders, a task can take anywhere from an hour to several months to finalize.

UX writers have a knack for raising important questions about things that may have been overlooked earlier in the design process. This is great because these questions often lead to a better user experience. It also means a copy request can look a lot different at the end than it did at the beginning.

What we can guarantee is that your copy requests will move forward every week and we'll be in frequent communication about where things stand. In most cases, you'll have something to react to in 5 business days or less.

How do I give feedback on the work you deliver?

You're welcome to provide feedback in whatever format your team is accustomed to—Jira or Asana tickets, Figma comments, Google docs, email... We're good with all of it.

If you ask us to make revisions based on your feedback, that copy request automatically becomes your one active request. Unless you tell us otherwise, we'll pause whatever else we're working on for you to address the feedback.

Is Just Copy right for my team?

If your team builds digital products that have words inside them—so, every digital product—we can help you out. But if we had to narrow it down, we've found there are four types of product teams that are especially suited to our subscription model:

👉 Teams with ongoing product-copy needs but not enough budget to afford experienced full-time UX writers or content designers, who are currently commanding 125-300K salaries + benefits.

👉 Teams with money but not the right leadership in place to effectively manage and mentor full-time UX writers and content designers.

Do you use content automation or AI writing tools?

No. Every word produced by Just Copy is written by a real human with at least 10 years of professional writing experience.

Should I hire a full-time UX writer instead?

If you can afford and support full-time UX writers or content designers, do it. No one will better understand your brand, product strategy, and business goals than someone who is on your team in a full-time capacity.

Just Copy is not a replacement for full-time UX writers and content designers. We are an affordable alternative or adjunct for product teams with ongoing copy needs that exceed the capacity of in-house resources.

Who are the UX writers and content designers behind Just Copy?

The majority of requests are fulfilled or overseen by Just Copy's founder, a veteran writer whose 20+ years of experience span journalism, copywriting, UX writing, and content design.

As needed, Just Copy enlists contract UX writers and content designers to execute requests. Every Just Copy UX writer and content designer has a minimum of 10 years of professional writing experience.

How do I pause or cancel my subscription?

If we're working together, we'll be in frequent communication. Pausing or canceling is as simple as letting us know you want to take a break.

If you're on our monthly plan, you'll be billed for the full month at the end of your monthly cycle. You're under no obligation to continue beyond the monthly engagement and there's no required notice period.

For the quarterly plan, you're billed upfront—that's why you get a discount. We don't issue refunds but you are under no obligation to continue beyond the three months you paid for and there's no required notice period.
